Horseback Riding

Saturday, September 5th, 2009
Meghan loves horses. Reads about them all the time. Would love to have one of her own, but we just don’t have the space. So, this morning I surprised her with her first trail ride at Hickory Nut Gap Farm, just down the road from us. As is evident from the picture, she was thrilled beyond belief! She rode like she had born riding. Each little instruction she received from our guide, Addie, she mastered within moments. A pro! And it was such a beautiful late summer morning to ride through the woods. Azure blue skies, a slight breeze rustling through the trees, birds calling to each other all around us. We could not have special ordered it. We will definitely be doing it again in the not too distant future, especially since it is only $25/hour. They also have riding lessons which we are considering for her. (Yes, mom always wanted to that as a kid and if there’s a way to do it for my daughter, well….)
After our ride and thanking Addie for such a wonderful time, we bought a half bushel of organic apples from the farm and came home to make apple crisp and apple pie with the boys. Oh yeah! Life is good.
